- I'm having trouble installing AdSense Tracker. Can you install it for me?
Until recently I offered free installation of AdSense Tracker if you were not able to install it yourself.
While I will still do my best to answer all questions about the installation process, I cannot always
install it for you. My customer base is just growing too large to be able to do that.
If you get to the install.php form and you just don't know what to put in the MySQL fields, the best thing
to do is write to your web host, point them to the install.php file and ask them what goes in the fields.
If that fails, I will install the tracker for you for a fee. Email me at the address on the bottom of this
page for details.
- Why are the click counts Google gives me and the click counts AdSense Tracker gives me different?
Google filters clicks in ways that it does not let anybody know about, so sometimes they will
filter clicks that AdSense Tracker displays and count clicks AdSense Tracker does not.
- Why can't I access my free EPC Gold account with my email address and receipt number?
This happens sometimes, and I'm not sure exactly why. However, you can have your account
created for you by clicking this link:
http://www.epcgold.com/asg.php
Fill out the form on that page and it will create your EPC Gold account for you in seconds.
- Why does AdSense Tracker track clicks fine on one of my domains, but show nothing for the others?
This usually happens when you point your script tags to the wrong domain. Here's what happens: you
install the AdSense Tracker on MyDomain.com, and you put your scripts on MyDomain1.com like this:
<script language=javascript src='http://www.mydomain.com/astracker/ast.php'></script>
Then let's say you have a second site, MyOtherDomain.com. You probably put this code on that site:
<script language=javascript src='http://www.myotherdomain.com/astracker/ast.php'></script>
That is not correct. You should use the EXACT SAME CODE that you put on MyDomain.com on MyOtherDomain.com,
because that's the domain that you installed the tracker on.
- AdSense Tracker was working fine for some time, and now I'm getting an error message about 'astracker_clicks.MYI' (or 'astracker_views.MYI'). What's wrong?
This usually happens when you don't run the Optimize Tables command from the maintenance menu often enough.
To fix this, this file, unzip it and upload the repair.php file to your
astracker directory. Then point your browser to the file (i.e., http://wwww.YourDomain.com/astracker/repair.php).
Once that is finished, go to the Maintenance menu and Optimize Tables.
Be sure to optimize the tables at least once a week to keep your database performing well.
- How do I get the SQL dump version of the articles into a database?
If you don't know PHP or MySQL, then it's probably best that you either hire somebody to do this for you
or talk a knowledgable friend into doing it for you for free. The SQL articles database is a free
gift that comes with AdSense Tracker, and it is expected that you have some knowledge about MySQL
in order to use it. Perhaps in the future I will create an auto-installer for that as well, but for
now you will need to do one of the above.
- Can AdSense Tracker track Yahoo Publisher Network or Chitika ads?
Yahoo Publisher Network ads support is scheduled for release in December, 2005. Look for it
then. I'm still looking into how to best track Chitika ads and whether or not it is a good
idea to include it in the product. If you email me at the address on the bottom of this page
and request Chitika ads, and enough other people do as well, I will definately consider adding
it.
- I'm getting the error "Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to MySQL server on..." when I try to install. What do I do?
That error means that either 1) The MySQL username/password you are supplying are wrong or
2) You have the wrong MySQL hostname/ip address in the field. The problem is usually #2.
Try using "localhost" as the MySQL hostname.
- Can I modify the articles and claim them as my own?
No. You must leave the 'About the Author' box in the articles, and you cannot claim them as
your own.
- How often are the keyword lists updated?
The EPC Gold data is updated every two weeks. The AdSense Gold list is updated quarterly (every 3 months).
- Can I export the AdSense Tracker data?
That feature is coming in December, 2005.
- Do I install AdSense Tracker on my computer?
No. AdSense Tracker is installed on your web server. Your web server must
support PHP and MySQL.
- Will AdSense Tracker work on a Windows web server, or just Linux?
It can be installed on a Windows web server as long as PHP and MySQL have been installed on
the web server. In fact, the demo is running on a Windows web server. It will also run on
Linux or Unix, pretty much anything that supports PHP and MySQL.
- I have a Macintosh. Can I use AdSense Tracker?
Since AdSense Tracker is installed on your web server, not your own computer, it doesn't
matter if you have a Macintosh computer or a PC. Both a Mac and a PC will read all of the
other files that come in the AdSense Gold package.
- Does AdSense Gold have an affiliate program?
It sure does. Click here for information about the affiliate program.
